The Roux Institute connects Maine businesses with Northeastern University graduate talent and applied AI expertise to move real projects forward.

"Working Lab" pairs your business with an interdisciplinary graduate student team and a faculty advisor to tackle a defined challenge, from AI workflow exploration to software prototypes, data tools, and market research. You set the scope and timeline; Northeastern recruits and manages the team.

"Forward-Deployed Engineers" (FDE) puts two vetted Northeastern graduate students on your business directly, under the oversight of Northeastern's AI Solutions Hub. In as little as four weeks, FDE teams can identify AI opportunities in your operations, scope a workflow, or build a working prototype you can test before committing further.

Both models are well suited to MERC-funded projects: defined scope, a set timeline, and a concrete deliverable at the end.
